Arboreto Luis Ceballos en San Lorenzo de El Escorial

Situado en el Monte Abantos, el Arboreto Luis Ceballos ofrece una representación de más de 200 especies de los árboles y arbustos españoles. Dispone de una red de caminos, miradores, árboles de las autonomías y elementos relacionados con el uso y la gestión forestal: carbonera, resinado, trampa para procesionaria, colmenas, etc. La zona en que se enclava fue declarada Paraje Pintoresco en 1961.
En el aparcamiento del antiguo Hotel Felipe II de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, hoy centro de formación de la Corporación BBVA, hay una bonita señal de madera con un mapa de la senda “Los Tesoros de Abantos”, que comienza allí mismo y permite alcanzar el Arboreto Luis Ceballos disfrutando de una agradable subida de 2,2 km por el pinar del monte Abantos. En automóvil, hay que tomar la carretera de la Presa que asciende por la zona residencial de la parte alta de San Lorenzo, dejar a un lado la Presa del Romeral y continuar en dirección al Puerto del Malagón por la ladera del monte, hasta llegar al área de aparcamiento del Arboreto.
A la altura de la segunda horizontal (1.300 metros de altitud), se encuentra el recinto del Arboreto Luis Ceballos propiamente dicho. El lugar está concebido con fines didácticos, como un muestrario que permite valorar la gran riqueza forestal de la península ibérica y su aprovechamiento sostenible, aunando el uso de los recursos y la conservación de la biodiversidad.
Actividades: Itinerarios guiados, Sendas autoguiadas, Visitas temáticas, Técnicas forestales, Talleres, Sendas externas guiadas.
El Arboreto puede visitarse de forma autoguiada dentro del horario del Centro. Nuestro horario es de 10 a 18 horas, todos los días del año (excepto el 24, 25 y 31 de diciembre, y el 1 y 6 de enero).
