Cañada Real Open Center en El Escorial
7 de Marzo de 2008Cañada Real Open Center es un centro de interpretación y estudio de la naturaleza ibérica. Un rincón de la Sierra del Guadarrama perfectamente preservado que acoge a las especies más representativas de nuestra fauna.
A 48 Kms. de Madrid y a la vista del Monasterio de San Lorenzo, fue creado en 1988 por la Fundación José María Blanc para la Defensa de la Naturaleza, y declarado de Utilidad Pública por el Ayuntamiento de El Escorial. Desde la senda de 2 Kms que recorre el Centro, se contemplan especies extraordinarias: lobo, águila real, azor, búho, cabra hispánica, garduña, gineta, gato montés, corzo jabalí… en un ambiente natural poblado de robles, fresnos, olmos, madroños…
Dos lagunas acogen gran variedad de aves acuáticas, haciendo de Cañada Real una de las reservas de cigüeñas más importantes del centro de la Península. El Centro cuenta además, con unas magníficas instalaciones dedicadas a talleres medioambientales y aulas de naturaleza, atendidas por biólogos y personal altamente cualificado.
Desde 1.988, año en que se declaró de interés social por el Ayuntamiento de El Escorial, por Cañada Real Open Center han pasado cientos de animales heridos. Algunos, tras ser curados, han podido volver a la libertad, y otros han quedado imposibilitados para volver a su medio. Son los irrecuperables, para los que hemos creado un hábitat lo más parecido posible al suyo natural .
La presencia de estas especies permite a los visitantes del Centro conocer su comportamiento, características, y curiosidades.
